Free Car Wash

Hi all,

I've been swamped this week with finals and escrow horrors (I'll fill you in later), but I just have to take a minute to share this with you...

I had to drive Kayla into Reno today for a dental appointment and the poor thing had nothing to do for an hours drive. So she's rattling papers in the back seat and I figure out she's looking at a newspaper Phil left in the car, the car classifieds to be exact. I kind of chuckled to myself - how bazaar for my little girl to be reading car ads! Anyway, she says to me, "Hey Mom, there's a free car wash somewhere." She says it like she thought I'd like to know in case the car needed washing. It struck me that she had read something in the ads, understood what she was reading, and thought I might be interested! When did my little girl learn to read! Just last year she could barely recognize the letters in the alphabet! Now, don't get me wrong, this isn't the first time she's read something. She reads all the time. I'm just used to her reading books and things geared towards beginning readers. This was the first time she read something meant for adults. I can't believe how quickly they grow up! Oh and by the way, she informed me that she was saving the money in her piggy bank to buy a car when she gets older... I guess she needed to read the car ads after all!

This kind of story is exactly why blogs are so awesome! Would you have remembered this little story a few months from now? Probably not. But now not only can you re-read it later, but you're sharing it with the rest of us! Thanks! We love you!
